…the World.
Well “They” were wrong…and today is December 22nd. Which means TweedyBirds birthday! So Happy Birthday to me.
For me, today will be a family filled day with lots of family dropping by CasaR. Hmmm should I be baking a cake???

Well “They” were wrong…and today is December 22nd. Which means TweedyBirds birthday! So Happy Birthday to me.
For me, today will be a family filled day with lots of family dropping by CasaR. Hmmm should I be baking a cake???
Earlier this week I spent time with my “stroller-girls” and we baked up a mountain of ginger bread “cookies”. We had planned on spending the afternoon decorating them, we wound up spending more time rolling out and cutting out shapes than actually decorating. Well the rolling and cutting part took longer than planned and I went home with a big borrowed cake tin full of “naked” ginger bread “cookies”.
Well this weekend I sat down and did some decorating…
after – a tin of Christmas joy
The kitchen counter was filled with a color palette of colored icing sugar…hard not to be a little playful when you have so many colors at hand. Had a lot of fun decorating this ginger bread “cookies”, I’m already looking forward to next Christmas…when BabyS will be joining me in making a mess in the kitchen.
- Are you finished with your Christmas baking?
- How do you decorate your ginger bread “cookies”?
Yesterday was December 13th, which for me means traditions…St. Lucia traditions. If your children are in kindergarten they probably participated in procession with candles and handed out Lucia buns. I’ve missed Lucia buns the last few years…so this year, I made some myself (though a half day too late…better late than never). Next year BabyS will hopefully be in kindergarten…
I found a recipe online. Though I didn’t use saffron (that’s one expensive spice!), I used turmeric instead…Here’s the recipe.
Today I’ve had a lot of free time on my hands. With a “strolling-date” with the girls tomorrow at hand I thought I would make a head band for myself. I’ve planned to make one of these head band made by Stinemor for ages.
It was super easy to make and I finished in not time at all.
a picture of the finished result and a close up of the “seed stich”
I knitted this head band in double threads of Merino wool by Trysil Garn. This grey color is nice and neutral against my black hair…
Thank you Stinemor for sharing this pattern.
This week I tried something new…knitting a “hat” for DaddyO.
A while back I bought a few balls of cotton yarn @Søstrene Grene. Some of which was going to a hat for DaddyO. I had bought a dark, neutral grey I hoped DaddyO would like.
Together with DaddyO, I found a pattern @Garnstudio that he liked.
I shortened the length as DaddyO wanted a fitted hat. I just knitted the part of stockinette stitch from 19 cm to 12 cm. The rest I followed the pattern to the letter.
And the result….
DaddyO making faces with his new hat
Not bad for my first try…and Macgyver style double pointed needles. (I’m still waiting for a set of double pointed needles to arrive in the mail) This hat was so fast to knit, I think I will give it another try…this time in a wool blend???
- Have you made a hat lately?
- Have you used the Søstrene Grene cotton yard?
- What kind of yarn do you use for hats?
Off to play with BabyS.
Have a nice 2nd Sunday of Advent
A while back I posted about my little Valentine dress. Well I finished it this weekend…and me being such a slow knitter resulted in a dress that is ALITTLE too tight. Maybe BabyS will have time to wear it once before outgrowing it.
Aiming for a six month size was too optimistic. Maybe I will give this dress a new try – just have to adjust my self made pattern…this time aiming for a size at least 6 month bigger than BabyS is now…
Last night I finally put the finishing touches on this years Christmas cards.
signed, sealed and ready for delivery
Don’t want to reveal any details around the design as the recipients haven’t received their cards yet. Look forward to a future post with pictures And to the friends and family that receive a card, all I can just say is…this years card is super cute!
See the cool sender address stamp on the back of the envelopes? Those are personalized stamps ordered from this Ebay store. Love that they offer pre-inked, cling or clear rubber, handle mounted (or not)…you can get A LOT of designs and they can all be personalized to your liking. And for those of you out there in need of special characters (like the Norwegian ÆØÅ) – they offer that too!
Some examples of the stamps Loongchai74 offers – and I have…
It’s the first Sunday of advent and CasaR has finally been decorated for Christmas. There’s nothing like newly fallen snow outside, lit candles, the Christmas star in the window and Christmas decoration throughout the house…
Love my new little Santas I got from Søstrene Grene last week, they have gotten a few nice window corners in the living room. BabyS is more fascinated by the glass bells with led lights…she’s been staring at them for ages since we hung them up today…
How do you decorate your house for Christmas? Do you have a favorite ornament that gets you in the Christmas mood straight away?
