I love these

crib bumpers by Smallstuff! The traditional crib bumpers that you get in Noreay is no match for SweetieS weight. Before she moved to a bigger bed she would stand along the sides of the bumper and push together the bumper, leaving a pile of “stuff” along the crib sides. I came across Smallstuff crib lines about two years ago, at a storage sale. So I bought this nifty crib bumper for just 250kr! which is cheap for this type of bumper I now know – because I wanted to get one for BabyL, as the one for SweetieS has moved with her to her big bed. The cheapest one I found was at www.lekmer.no or www.cdon.no (portals to lekmer). And with a few gift certificates I had @cdon and lekmers Summersale, I only paid for S&H (shipping and handling).

Here is SweetieS bumper on a IKEA Hemnes Daybed. I don’t think this one is available anymore. But it is lavender colored with white stars on one side, and the reverse on the other side – the side that is pictured below.

And here is BabyLs bumper on her “inherited” IKEA Gulliver crib. It is almost the same design as SweetieS, just that the stars are multicolored.

What I love about these bumpers is that there is no need to tie them onto the crib. The bumper is 4cm thick and can stand on its own as it is filled with foam and not fabric. They are 30cm high and 360cm long, thus fitting perfect along three of three side in SweetieS bigger bed. Can’t recommend these enough. Just love them!

Some finishing touches

With BabyL coming a week before her due date and BabyS celebrating her 2 year birthday, things have been somewhat hectic the past month. The other day while BabyL was sleeping I finished attaching the decals for her room.

LilysDecals

I got these decals super cheap on Ebay. There are SO many beautiful and cute decals available. They are easy to put up and can be changed super easy. This time I went with a pink teddy and a sleeping monkey….

For some reason the decals wouldn’t stick quite as wells as on the walls in BabyS room. After going online, I got the tip to use some watered down wood glue on the backside of the decals. That way the decals wouldn’t be permanent and leave no residue when removed later.

Still have a few things that need to go into BabyLs room…but with the decals up, I’m one step closer to personalizing this nursery too.

Pimp my Expedit, part two

A few days ago I posted about pimping up BabyS’ Expedit shelving unit. Coming across the post today, I realized I had forgotten a “small” detail…about the knobs I used for the Expedit door inserts. The knobs that come with the doors are small and simple.

imagepicture of the Expedit knobs, “borrowed” from IKEA

As I felt these were a little boring and too small for children fingers, I went online looking for options. I wound up buying from this Ebayer…crystal-like knobs

And the result was a more girly Expedit…super cute!

- did you just use the parts that came with your Expedit purchase? or have you done some pimping?

Pimp my Expedit

Ages ago BabyS got a 5x5 Expedit shelving unit for her room. As she has gotten a few books that are taller than the 33x33cm cubes allowed, I wound up changing up the layout of the unit.

Normally a 5x5 unit looks like this:

picture borrowed from  www.ikea.no

To get the a cube bigger than the standard 33x33cm I choose to leave out one of the shelving plates in the corner cubes (top right corner). I put in a CD insert in the doubled up corner (unfortunately, this insert is no longer available from IKEA). The corner now looks like this:

IMG_2552

I also bough a decal for measuring BabyS as she grows bigger, that I have attached to the side of the shelving unit. As you can see in the picture Hot smile The decal is bought online, but can’t remember form where…I think it was from Tinydeal though…Here if you want one.

Enough from me tonight…

Absence

Sorry for being so absent lately. Between being sick myself and BabyS being sick I don’t have much energy left over.

Just wanted to do a small post about the super cool lamp I bought for BabyS room.

It’s called Buddy Space and is part of the series MyKidsRoom by Philips. MyKidsRoom is a new series of lamps designed for kids rooms. The store I bought our Buddy told me they had only had this new series in stock for a week and where almost all sold out already. While I was paying for my lamp two more customers where in line to pay for lamps in the same series. Guess Philips hit the nail on the head with this design series.

(I don’t get paid to talk about products, just wanted to share)

there are way more lamps in the series, but the Philips website was down when I was writing this post…

Now I just need to confirm a date with the electrican to have it installed…

A little art in the nursery

Other than the vinyl decals I posted about in this post on the nursery walls, they have been left pretty naked.

When I made a handprint and a footprint of baby S, I was creatively inspired.

When asking my mother about vital data round my birth I’ve always gotten an approximate reply. This way baby S will always know exactly when she was born and her “size”.

Photo 19 36 15 08.07.12

I used my Cuttlebug and cut out pink letters using the Quickutz Harvest alphabet. I used Spellbinders Labels Three squares for the hand- and footprint (I used Versamark ink and some white – unbranded - embossing powder for the prints). The flourish is from the Jazzy swirls stamp set by Autumn leaves. All done with pink and brown colored cardstock from Creative Company. Final step, put in a nice frame, I used IKEAs Virserum frame in white.

Yes, the rocking chair is from IKEA – ideal for relaxing with baby S.

Today I signed up for beta testing of inlinkz, exited to try it out. See the result at the bottom of my post.

Time flies…

Can’t believe that I’m already one week into my maternity leave. Time sure flies…and the baby isn’t even here yet. Haven’t even had time to blog (!).

Thought that I would have better time when my maternity leave started. Since my midwife has been worried about me having preeklampsi I’ve had a few more check ups and follow ups than normal…just the last week I had THREE doctors appointments!

The past week has gone to some preparations for the coming baby…and just getting the house out of “renovation mode”.

Just to mention a few projects that have been going on the past week:

  • assembled the baby stroller
  • bought a wooden gazebo (still need to assemble though-see my earlier post)
  • getting the front patio washed and ready for a new season in the Sun (crossing our fingers that the Sun grants us some presence this summer)
  • finished putting down wooden flooring in the hallway on the 2nd floor and the wooden moldings are put in place
  • (finally) finished the last washing load of baby clothes and folded them nicely into the dresser in the nursery

Now if I can only find some time and inspiration to do some scrapping…

More nursery stuff

When I ordered the butterfly decals for the babys nursery I also ordered another one. One with Winnie the Pooh and Tigger.

Tonight I finally I had time to put it up…not too bad if I say so myself

 CIMG5229

My sister-in-law gave us their old baby cot for the nursery. She had mentioned that her son had left some teething marks on the rails, but if we wanted it, it was ours.

I tried a little dab of paint to make the marks less visible, but soon realized that it was a loosing battle. Thanks to a tip from my friend I gave it a more creative angle…

I just stamped some strips of paper with stamps from “In the Garden” 12 x 12 stamp set from Fancy Pants. The Distress ink I used is “Seedless Preserves”  from the the Ranger seasonal fall set. The strips are than fastened to the cot using Noga teething rail for cots from IKEA. I was planning on doing this to all the sides, but I only have rails for one side.

Typically my luck, this rail is not available in any of the IKEA stores in the Oslo area. Now where am I gonna get two more Noga rails???

If you happen to live by any IKEA store that has this rail in stock, please contact me Winking smile Thanx

This is another follow up post of the free baby stuff post I did a few weeks ago.

This time it’s about the Libero startboks. To receive this box you have to register with Liberoklubben. To get this box you get a gift certificate in the mail, that is used to pick up the box from any Kiwi store.

Now I have enough samples to make up an opinion about Libero products when the baby comes along.

The last baby package from Apotek1 seems to be harder to get a hold of then anticipated, as the package is out of stock everywhere.

A few days ago I also got the BAM package in the mail…

Baby steps…

With just one month to go to our due date we have started to do some preparations for the coming event…

Have done three loads of laundry just today…our house looks like a bomb went of in a clothing store or something. Sorry no pictures of the mountain of  baby clothes that now resides in our house…

The nursery has finally been cleared for all that’s doesn’t belong there. Will try and post pictures soon…still need to pick up some things for the nursery before it’s “complete”.

Hubby also assembles the Stokke Tripp Trapp chair with the Newborn set we bought on offer around Christmas last year.

TrippTrappEdit

Slowly but surely we are getting there…

Follow up…it's free

Not long ago I did a post about all the free stuff available for expecting families here in Norway. Some I will get directly in the mail and some I have to bring a coupon and pick up at the store.
So I’ve picked up the two nappy disposal system directly from their stores.
From Babyshop I got this one:
Photo 16 03 29 20.04.12
And from Barnas Hus, this one:
Photo 16 02 45 20.04.12
Haven’t unpacked anything yet as I’m not sure where to put them. Was thinking of having one in the bedroom/nursery for the simple diaper changes. I’m considering having one in the bathroom, but not sure how the system will work standing on the floor heating 24/7. Imagining the bacteria thriving a little too well….
Also got the Babybox from Apotek1:
Photo 16 04 14 20.04.12The package consisted of (most of the tubes/bottles are “travel size”):
  • A bottle of 2 in 1 shower and shampoo
  • An issue of the magazine “Foreldre & barn”
  • A baby picture book
  • A baby body size 62
  • A packet of non-perfume baby wipes
  • Pampers diapers size 2 & 3
  • Avent disposable breast pads
  • Avent pacifier
  • MAM pacifier
  • A tube of Natuvive papaya smooth hand cream
  • A bottle of Sebamed shower oil
  • A bottle of Sebamed baby bubble bath
  • A tube of Dr Greve All-round cream
  • A tube of Bepanthen ointment
So now I have baby products I didn’t know I needed Hot smile Now all I need to find out is how I organize the nursery changing table….

Vinyl takes center stage

A few weeks back I ordered some vinyl decals to decorate the nursery from a seller on eBay. I finally had some time on my hands to apply it on a wall in the nursery. I’m happy with how the wall looks now compared to how naked the picture of Tigger looked without.

ButterflyDecalsCollage

This decal is ordered from a seller on Ebay that is located in Korea, feel free to check out the Ebay store.
