The power of social media

Last week I got my 15 minutes of fame, well it was more like 15 seconds…more than I’ve ever wanted/needed.

image
It all started out with a venting on Facebook and before I knew it I had over 100 (!) comments and more were coming…

A Facebook-friend noticed all the commotion and suddenly I was asked if I would like to interviewed by NRK Østlandssendingen for a segment. The interview resulted in an article published on nrk.no here and a follow-up article here. Sorry to my international readers, both articles are in Norwegian. If you’re interested in the TV segment, it’s available here (aired on NRK February 18th – not sure if this can be viewed if you have a non-Norwegian IP-address) The TV segment was originally aired as part of Østlandssendingen, but when they saw the buzz this segment created it was bumped up to the 9 o’clock news for the whole nation to see.

The articles and TV segment has triggered intense discussions on social media Facebook (especially on NRKs FB-page), Twitter and even in my workplace. This subjects obviously sparks a reaction with most people.

Just so I’m clear, the article has focused on the part of yoghurt not being allowed in kindergartens in my district. But this is just a part of a bigger plan which I’m very positive towards – focus on eating healthy and more activity. Statistics in my district show an increasing number of  overweight children, so this focus on diet and activity as early as kindergarten is awareness at an early age. The results of this focus is yet to be seen.

So there you have it, me and SweetieS 15 seconds of fame all thanks to Facebook.

Simply amazing

Well my friends it’s almost time…for another season of Amazing Race Norway. Saw the trailer the other day and I’m excited.

Freddy dos Santos is again the host – hopefully this time he won’t spoil all the action with his contant talking. Last season he kept the viewers constantly updated on the teams whereabouts and how many minutes they were apart…spoiling some of the fun of not knowning.

the trailer shows this seasons teams

Was disappointed when I didn’t see my friend amongst the teams. Since I knew he had applied and went for several rounds of interviews last fall. Eventhough he had told me his team didn’t make the cut, I was secretly hoping…can’t win’em alll, hopefully he’ll apply for the next season.

So mark your calenders! The season premier is aired on Tv2 this Wednesday March 6th.

Art of war

No I' haven’t been reading The Art of War by Sun Tzu…

Earlier today I read a tweet by Jennifer Mcguire who happen to mention the TV-series Craft Wars. My curiosity was tickled and I did a Google search. After watching a few video clips on TCLs website I wanted to watch this series…

image

Description from the shows web site:
TLC is about to turn crafting on its head. Long gone are the days where crafting solely referred to a world of quaint tea cozies and popsicle stick bird houses. Today, there is a strong movement of crafters taking this beloved hobby and transforming it into an extreme art form. Now, for the first time ever, TLC has assembled these craft virtuosos for a knock-down, drag-out fight for supremacy.

Now off to watch the first episode of Craft wars…(Shhhh Baby S is sleeping….)

Also, the show is hosted by Tori Spelling…remember her? (hint: 90210…)

This months color is yellow…

Today is the 1st stage of the Tour (full name Le tour de France). Also this year casa TweedyBird will follow the stages on TV – if baby Sophie allows us.

Yesterday was the prologue in Liège, a tempo stage which Fabian Cancellara won. Congrats Spartacus! Due to family visiting we didn’t get to see the stage on TV, but Twitter kept us updated.

Hopefully this years Tour will be less dangerous compared to earlier years… We all remember Hoogerlands close encouter with barbed wire fence last year! I was totally shocked when I saw it happen live…

As there are only one Norwegian cyclist in this years Tour, there will probably not be many moments like these…so here are a few clips posted to keep the Norwegian spirits up…from last years Tour.

Edvald Boasson Hagen wins stage 6
Thor Hushovd wins stage 13
Thor Hushovd wins stage 16
Edvald Boasson Hagen wins stage 17

Good luck to the Eddy the Boss!

- which team are you supporting?
- who do you think wins the TdF2012 yellow jersey?

It’s free…

Don’t know how many of my readers watch(ed) the Matt Groening series Futurama. but just have to share this little youtube clip when talking about free stuff
It’s free…
Being pregnant I have gotten a few tips from friends and family about the free stuff I should sign up for to the baby. So I thought I would share them here (sorry, but I think these are only available in Norway):
Well I think that is it…I’ll do an update post as I receive my packages.

The Amazing Race, Norwegian style

Yesterday I saw a little reminder (aka billboard) on the season premiere of The Amazing Race, produced by the Norwegian TV channel TV2.

I’ve been a big fan of the US version of The Amazing Race for years and having a Norwegian version sounds entertaining.

The Norwegian version is hosted by former Norwegian football player Freddy dos Santos. Like the US version, there are 11 couples racing to the finish. Though the prize money is nothing close to the US version, which is 1 million US dollars cash, not to mention all the prizes for the winners of each leg. The Norwegian version is around valued up to a million Norwegian krone (the winners get not only cash, but also a car). In comparison, todays exchange rate 1.00 USD =  5.80161 NOK. In other words, nowhere close. But still it’s the challenge the contestants are there to experience, isn’t it???

So 8PM tonight I’ll be centered in front of our TV ready for the first episode. I look forward to watch how the stiff Norwegians handle the challenges the world has to offer…

Here’s a little video of the Norwegian contestants

Lucas reappears

Didn’t expect a guest appearance by Chad Michael Murray aka Lucas Scott in the latest season of One Tree Hill.(I don’t read much US TV series “gossip”) After several seasons where he and his on-screen wife Peyton have been “absent”,  he’s back in Tree Hill for a short visit.

Though his image has changed a bit since season 6…

Back to watching the rest of the episode…thank heavens for PVRs

Finally back!

Being sick the last few days have given me some time infront of the TV to do some catching up…

Today I saw the trailer for season 2 of Game of Thrones. Gonna miss Sean Bean as the head of the nobel Stark family.

So mark your calenders! April 1st 2012 the new season airs.

Here’s the trailer, linked from Youtube

For those of you who live in the US or can proxy thru the US, watch the full episodes on HBO Go

For the rest of us I guess we’ll have to wait until a local TV channel airs or the episodes are downloadable (shhhhh)
